Two things I value are intelligence and a great sense of humor. In fact, a sense of humor is what I value most in a person. No lie, no BS. So is it any wonder that I've been bitten by the crush-bug (little cousin of the love-bug) and completely swallowed whole by the respect-bug (very rare indeed) because of Tina Fey?
Anyway, the Sunday evening after her first appearance as Weekend Update's co-anchor, I saw her perform at the Upright Citizens Brigade's theater. The problem: I hadn't seen last night's show, so I did not recognize in the slightest Ms. Fey walking around before the show. I did notice her, but I just thought she was a regular person (Yeah, right!). I almost asked her out but couldn't muster the nerve. Not that she would have gone out with me, but it would have made a better story than "almost." Women really intimidate me for some reason (Probably the same reason men really intimidate me: Low self-esteem.), so imagine my surprise when she tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to hand her something from behind me. A microphone, a purse, a small rifle? I've no idea. I was too scared to notice. Double surprise (Double? Try triple. Try...I can't count that high.) when they announced her on stage as "the new anchor on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update, Tina Fey." I almost died. At the time, I felt like I'd dodged a bullet. Sure, she would've let me down nicely, but I didn't know that then.
She really impressed that night, and I've never missed a Weekend Update since. Now, despite the fact that she's engaged, I'm kind of regretful I didn't talk to her. It would have been the best rejection I ever got (Believe me) and a great boost to my confidence. Although, I have to say I'm happy just spending every week waiting for SNL and WU.

Jimmy Fallon's pretty funny, too. I guess. Eh.
