For you Extraordinary Storytellers, how does this sound? We can meet at Butman Methodist Encampment, 25 miles southwest of Abilene, Texas.
www.butmancamp.org
We'll begin on a Friday at supper, around 6 pm, and end after lunch the following day. My first choice for a date is March 28-29th. We can stay in the newer Irvine Lodge on that date. If that won't work, we can meet any weekend in April, but we'll have to stay in the older Hillside Lodge. Irvine isn't available in April. Either way, cost will be $55 per person if you can afford it. Spouses are invited, too. Tell me if these dates and the place work for you. If not, make a counter suggestion.
Friday evening we will get to know each other, talk about our purpose and ministry, and the importance of persuasive Christian speaking. Friday evening and Saturday morning, some or all of us can practice giving our talks before the group--give and receive suggestions, encouragement, etc. The time will go by fast, and I want it to be fun. Always fun! You don't have to give a talk if you don't feel ready. Mainly I want us to meet one another and begin building an army of intensely dedicated speakers and preachers, something like John Wesley's army of lay preachers he sent out, that changed the world.
What do you think? Any suggestions?
