Actually, Gray's brigade was equipped with knapsacks and on April 3 there was a reunion between knapsacks (in the wagons) and troops and a "change of clothing", which may have been underwear or jacket and trousers - he does not say. We are in the other brigade (Polignac's) of course but I would not assume they had even a minoirty of knapsacks. They are great battlefiled pickup items as well.
