Subject: Update on filming, rations, etc..

Company A,
As stated by Doug Cooper, the film crew will arrive at Mansfield at 4:00 a.m. on Friday morning to shoot live coverage of the battalion throughout the early morning hours. For all those interested in making it out for this, we will need to be in place at the park by Thursday evening. We will be camped somewhere by the visitor center. All participants will need to bring food for themselves for Thursday night and Friday.
There will be an initial ration issue late Friday or early Saturday. Amount and type of issue has not been disclosed.
We will essentially start the event Friday night, and from there on in will only have access to whatever information trickles down the line. We will be in 100% first person from Friday evening on, and "even 21st century concerns will be in 19th century terms".
The most we're likely to be told is just what we absolutely need to hear. The staff of this event has gone a long way to bring us as close to the expirience as we can; the rest will depend on our attitudes.

Boys, let's keep drinking the water, and preparing for this event mentally as well as physically.
Start thinking (if you haven't already) about who you are in 1864, where you're from, and why you're in the middle of the 'Pine desert' of Western Louisiana fighting to keep a Federal army at bay.
I'm really looking forward to serving with all of you at this event. I'll see you boys in SIXTEEN DAYS!!!
Here's another tidbit from Doug:

"These Texans were different...self reliant, independent bordering on undisciplined at times, fierce and brave...but prone to melancholy and dissension at their indifferent treatment and often poor condition, without the record of battlefield success that sustains an army like the ANV. The 15th's record in battle has been short but excellent, we are easily the class of the brigade...and that bothers us. We are not at all happy with some of the poor material in our sister regiments, several of whom are of uncertain loyalty and not to be counted on in a scrape. More on that later."
YOS,
Stephen Mitchell
