We are having a very sunny, very beautiful morning.
I wouldn't want to get overconfident(this is Oregon) but,
come to sun country--Oregon.

Worried about a bomb going off in Northern Ireland, where I have friends, then heard about two going off in Portland. My nephew is a policeman and there is not a week without ia bomb scare or event. What are we coming to?

I am happy to have the hostages held in Equator home, and the three Oregonians safe.
Some of you emailed me about your feelings on the ransom being paid. Life vs. money. The larger picture is it puts other Americans in danger because thugs see how successfully this one was. So there is a certain sacrifice to life in paying it. Families of people working in other countries now fear the same for their loved ones.
On the other hand, I suppose, they have been put on guard, and hopefully that will help them stay safe.

Free trade, it is said, creates peace. I hope so. These men were going to be killed without paying it. Thankfully they came home. I do feel there was no other option in this instance. Hope it is the end of it.

I'm off to work.
