.·.rogue male slips out after the lady, taking a more dignified exit from the tor. hazel eyes upturn towards the sky briefly, assaulted by the brightness outside. the courtyard began ahead, the roughly-hewn maze unkempt, and unruly, with the trail through its devious centre overgrown and hardly able to be navigated. the tribute roses to the late king`s son and daughter we also uncultivated, and without the proper care and pruning were now straggly bundles of thorns and perhaps the surprising full-petaled flower. their sparse aroma, coupled with the rampant ranks of honeysuckle, nevertheless lent the scent of the old castle courtyard, exotic and sweet. perhaps that was all that remained. times had changed.·.
.·.male falls in step with kairion, fingers roaminh over thornbush to pluck at a rose.. a late rose, its petals already beginning to fade and fall off. the very flower dissolved in his calloused hand, the once-luminous petals drifting to the cobbled walk. he shrugs, giving the woman beside him a cheeky grin, the charmer`s grin.. the grin of the rogue himself.·.
now if this life was perfect, and this was a storybook life, then i would have given you that rose, and you would have smelled it, and put it in your hair, perhaps. how ironic, isn`t it? but the courtyard is beautiful nonetheless, in all her tempest, unruly splendour.
