Subject: Fred Whitton Challenge

I would just like to comment on the Fred Whitton challenge that took place on Monday. I was not in the event myself but was in the Lakes over the bank holiday taking in some hills in preparation for the Raid Pyrenean next month. Having spent the Saturday and Sunday covering Wynrose and Hardnott a couple of times plus a few others over a couple of hundred miles I thought I'd opt for a different start point for my last day and take the car and bike over the other side of Hardnott & Wynrose and do it in the opposite direction & back for a shorter ride.
Turning out of my camp up towards buttermere I came across a bunch of cyclists going up the fell and I have to say that I was just short of road rage (and I am the calmest person I know....), the group were weaving all across the road and gave absolutely no consideration to other road users in a display of the most arrogant riding I have ever seen.
This display must have held up the road for some considerable amount of time.
We are all road users and have equal rights.... maybe a little more consideration should be given during event organisation and briefings.

Happy riding in what look to be a great challenge.....

Roy
Leeds.
