Subject: Apology

I would like to send my apologies to the organisers of the event as it was myself who gave the 'intruder' my route sheet. Had I known it would cause this much trouble I would never have passed the information on and in hindsight should maybe have considered the implications. I appreciate the organisation of such an event takes some doing, and having additional people along the route only adds to the million and one things they already have to do.

Whilst I fully understand and appreciate the trouble it must cause the organisers, there were many other people along the entire route, on foot, in cars and on bikes. Although I am in no way trying to excuse or justify passing the route sheet to an unregistered rider, any number of people come to watch and support rides such as these and a great proportion of them will be on bikes.

As for the 'name and shaming' of the rider?? Im really not sure what that is going to achieve and think it is somewhat harsh. I apologise again for supplying the route sheet and can see the point the organisers are making, but the guy concerned really didnt break any laws and I think he has been through enough.
