let me see the Fred compaired to the polaris:
Fred : Road event
A single loop, route predeterminded.
Riders can and are supported by cars some as if it were the TDF
Start times staggered
Teams as bit as you want.
Drafting expected.
Riding two/three/four abrest some road bikers seem to think this is acceptable.

Polaris: Off road event
Route has numerous variations
Riders are not supported by cars
Start times are staggered
Teams of two
Drafting just does't happen
Two/three/four abreast; most mountain bikers are'nt up they're own arse like some club riders.

Give Paul a break I think he's doing very well to organies 500 people never mind any more. Have you been up Eskdale on that Sunday afternoon? Don't bother unless your willing to travel at the same speed as the mass of Fred riders and they're support cars. I have freinds and family who live in the valley who are'nt impressed with this event forced onto them. Unfortuately some unknowns took it too far and road rage was observed in some places. Personnally I can take the stick so long as I beat the 7 hours this year.
