I wouldn't be too quick to cut my ties with Home Depot and I'll tell you why...

When a company signs on with a race team, they almost never (I don;t know of a single one) have a manufacturer named in the contract. What that means is, when HD signed on with JGR, they did so with the team running GM cars. My guess is, there was nothing in their contract with JGR that says they could leave without penalty if JGR switched car makes. So you cannot blame Home Depot for that... and I can almost promise you that if Stewart leaves in 2009, Home Depot will leave when their contract expires.

I'd be willing to bet that FedEx and Home Depot are locked into these contracts with no 'out' as far as manufacturer goes. Now I bet there is something in there that lets them out if the team embarasses them but my guess is no judge would agree that switching to Toyota constitutes embarassing them.

Do not be one bit surprised if Home Depot was not consulted on this. Remember, nobody from either Home Depot or FedEx was there.... neither was an Interstate Batteries rep. I'd be willing to bet JGR consulted everyone except sponsors. Even Stewart had a JGR shirt on and nothing saying Home Depot was even present....
