Pololu Valley, after having being forgotten about after some kind of devastating plague, is found by an old hawaiian man, whom was led on by legends and beliefs. Some people had remained, survived the deaths, but no one ever went out of the valley again. They lay back on their culture, and thrived off the land once more. They had all they needed, so, there was really no sense in leaving. With all aspects of tourism gone, the generation that now is the backbone of Pololu, only understands the outside world from legends. And the elders intend to keep it that way. Whenever someone finds their way incidentally into Pololu, they never get back out. Instead, they are nurtured, and taught the Hawaiian ways. Anything modern, is taken away, and thrown into the sea. Native Hawaiians are making sure that the newcomers understand. They take extra care in doing so, and there is a sense of fear in them. Kupuna, elders, or teachers, don't want another repeat of history. [ e k o m o m a i ] html © hawaii of huna pulekaiko
And so, they live in peace with nature, as their ancestors once did. The animals and the humans understand the balance they must keep, and all is going as the elders want it. Their children understand the importance of this, and plan to keep it that way. It will only work though, if those who chance to find their way here, can understand and love what they do now...
