Subject: New Isle Weyr - Pern's brightest hope. (Not just for dragonriders!)

On the planet of Pern, centuries have passed since the days of F'lar and Lessa; the lessons AIVAS taught have been mostly forgotten, and Thread has periodically returned for reasons that the generations suffering under it no longer have the knowledge to explain. Dragons, too, were almost forgotten to a time, reduced to myth and legend. Then Ginny and Keith discovered two eggs, in the ruins of Benden Weyr, and the dragons rose again in time to combat a new wave of Thread. The dragonriders of Pern had returned to protect their homeland.

Sadly, even that brief revival has passed; as the Thread left, great natural disasters struck Pern, scattering the Weyrs and isolating Holds and Crafthalls to fend for themselves. Led by Ginny and Areyth, K'ith and Quereth, and S'sha and Kylith, a small group of dragonriders carved out a home on a relatively unscathed island once the islands were over, but a last great storm struck their New Isle Weyr and swept the legendary three and some of their companions to their deaths in the sea. Now the Weyr is lead by Weyrwoman Wessae and golden Shrineth, with the Weyrleader not yet decided. Three clutches have been born and matured, people from all walks of life have made their way to New Isle and Impressed, and the ranks of the dragonriders are swelling once again. Dolphins and even watchwhers have found their way to the island, and tenative plans for seeking out and aiding the scattered commonfolk of Pern have been proposed and bandied about. New Isle Weyr may very well be Pern's best and brightest hope for the future.

Gold Shrineth flies, and a clutch will soon be laid on the Hatching Sands. WherMaster Yima teaches new wher-handlers, and is seeking out future handlers to begin their training early. DolphinMaster Odette is always ready and willing for new apprentices. And if none of these appeal to you and you only want to live peacefully under dragonrider protection, farms are being cleared in the jungle, or Headwoman Gisella would be glad to find you a place in the Lower Caverns. Will you ride the currents to New Isle Weyr, and help restore Pern to its former glory?
