Perchance by fate, or perhaps by promise, they came, to conquer, to love, to die. Shades cast no shadows, and each one's destiny is his own.

First Age -- Age of the Knighted

For generations there was chaos. Fierce warlords would attempt to piece together a land by scrambling to the top with small armies, temporarily thrashing lesser equines into submission. As soon however, that Time began its languid decay, the warrior would collapse under its own weight, soon to be torn apart by the lesser equines it had so beaten. The age was eternally dark and barely a hair above pure anarchy. Perhaps anarchy would have been better, at least it would have been straightforward.

Then at last, a form came in the dark. His name was Aleron and unlike his predecessors, his mind thought as strategically as his body fought. For once in this land, a warrior who could think and use more than force! Gathering a legion of followers, he managed to drive back all opposition and at last, carved out a somewhat stable reign. But how long could this single ruler remain? Alas, that knowledge is for only the gods to possess!
