Date Posted: 11:27:49 07/26/09 Sun The four depictions of Jesus with which most people are most comfortable, are: 1) Baby Jesus in the manger. Baby Jesus is a non threatening entity and Jesus in this form makes no demands upon people. However in Scripture, very little emphasis is given to Jesus' childhood. In sharp contrast, many people wish to give great emphasis to "baby" Jesus. 2) Jesus with long hair. Rarely, if ever, will you see an artist's rendering of Jesus where Jesus was not depicted as having long hair. (We know that Jesus did not have long hair because the Scriptures plainly say that it is a shame for a man to have long hair. I Cor. 11:14) 3) "Meek and mild" Jesus from select texts of Scripture. Certainly not the texts like where the Lord Jesus took a whip and chased the "money changers" from the temple. 4) Jesus, dead, hanging on the cross. Again, non threatening and not making any demands. Sinful people are very comfortable with this presentation of the Lord Jesus. Some people have a big surprise coming. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
