I have known steve my entire life, because my Grandparents are the former NC directors, and his presence on stage is anything but fake. He takes his job VERY seriously, and has alot of respect for the program, that is why he is obsessed with it running smoothly, and when people show up at 2:00 when opening number starts at 2:00, how can the show possibly begin smoothly. yes, he was rude and inappropriately sarcastic in his answer to the food question, but he can't change a schedule around a ballroom and a hotel. He just gets incredibly impatient with people who think they can stroll in whenever they are ready, and I have seen numerous times where a child had to go at the end of her group because she was late, and the parents undertsood, because they were told. I was already inside and didn't hear him yelling in the hallway but from what I have heard, yes, he went overborad because he snapped. I NEVER get angry at anything and I was getting very upset just watching mother's letting their children run around everywhere, tearing up the set, while someone is standing in front of a room talking, I would feel impatient too.A show was going on and people are more concerned with a hair being out of place or their child doesn't have enough lipstick on then them actually being in line ready to go on. I hope that nobody sees his behavior that night as a reflection on the program, and Steve does truly love the program and everyone involved, otherwise he wouldnt do it for 27 years. When i was little I was scared of Steve too and thought he was mean, and he was a son to my Grandparents, but as I got older I realized that he would do anything for me and my family and relaized why he got impatient with me when I was little. Sorry, I am not trying to sound rude at all but I know things come out that way, i just didnt know how else to get it across . I was just hurt that people say his kindness and charm was fake and he had no business around children (my cousin, Megan Gwyn, adores him and vise versa) because if he didn't truly want to be there, he wouldn't. he didn't even get time off work that week, he had to call in sick and drive in from Atlanta because he WANTED to be there.
