In reply to: Papa Bear 's message, "Corrupt Outlook Express Database" on 18:16:52 04/12/04 Mon

Situation: .dbx files exist, OE6 shows empty folders.
Solution:
When you found your (corrupt) .dbx files, copy them into another folder (to be sure the original ones are left untouched). Then download and unzip from http://perso.club-internet.fr/macallan/
the program Outlook Express Extraction.
Open the file WOE5Extract.exe (It indicates OE5 but for me it worked fine with OE6 too). Under the menu File, choose Open ... and select the just saved copy of the (corrupted) .dbx file. The software makes in two steps all "lost" mails visible again. Click on one of them at it opens (automatically) in OE6. In OE6, under File, select Move to Folder ... and choose the name of the OE-folder where you want the recovered e-mail will be stored. Repeat this mail by mail and you'll see your OE6 folders refilling with all lost mails. I did not find a way to do this in one action.
Hope this helps.
Bernie
