Cyrus had very good hearing. Very very good hearing, on top of that, the snake was not THAT far away. He sighed, and looked back.
Just in time to see the snake lunge.
Cyrus's face became very still as the water of the lake rippled, then moved at terrifying speeds, taking three long sinuous forms as Cyrus leapt into the center of the mess. Heads formed more quickly than one could imagine. Or even want to imagine for that matter. One of the forms reached down to keep a watch on the small child (and be harmlessly attacked by a wyrdling)
The Ith'Dakar never reached Emillia. All it saw was a flash of blue, then the next thing it saw was Cyrus, shaking his finger.
And then it was promptly ripped in half by the other two heads of the sea dragon, just before the entire thing dissipated in a large splash of water, leaving Cyrus to drop into the lake.
Moments later, he was out of the lake, and his eyes were regarding the small child across the lake, now that he knew where she was, and he sighed, picked up a somehow unsoaked lunch, eyed one very shaken black and white wyrdling, then Emillia before smiling and scratching the back of his head with a free hand before offering it to her, while stormlight kept a vigil on the other wyrdling and on the small, forgotten child.
"Apparently these woods aren't safe anymore, it figures," Cyrus said with a look of Chagrin, then noted the look of total shock on Emillia's face. "What? I told you I could manipulate water, didn't I?"
