She listened to his haunt, poured out across templates of stone and written in madness. Notes cascaded in her own mind, songs he would play as night continued. Songs he played each night in rage and mourning, bitterness gaining purchase in walls now cold from unuse, until at last he would fall in slumber. She would enter then, blanket and thread, she would cover a near skeletal body and leave silk and wool beside his loom. By nightfall, another descent into madness would be portrayed in woven threads.

She worried. They all worried.
