>"Neither of you are used to a human being as skilled as the Humans that have taken control of this village are you?"

"I cannot speak for Silverfox but to answer your question.... no. My skills are different than the magics used to protect this place from casual eyes and they are not nearly as strong. If I might ask, how is it that this village contains humans when it's original occupants were of the Forgotten race?"

She wasn't sure she wanted the answer but as a Shaman it was her calling to face unpleasantness rather than turn from it and pretend it didn't exist. There was a weariness in Dawnsfire's grey eyes and almost absently she braided the ends of her raven black hair as she spoke again.

"For your protection I thank you again, yet I cannot help but wonder what price it is granted to us. I do not mean to sound ungrateful, to know that other humans still live is knowledge to brighten my spirit but I've learned that nothing comes without a price."

She knew her words were rude, but she didn't have the eloquence to ask why he'd chosen to protect them or what he wanted in return. All she knew was that whatever the price she would do nothing that would endanger Silverfox. The girl was the only one of her Clan that she knew survived and she would not jeopardize her last clanswoman if she could help it.
