基督教自由派(Christian Liberalism)

基督教「自由派」是指在基督教裡面一個特定的運動，最初發軔於德國士來馬赫 (Friedrich D. E. Schleiermacher, 1768-1834) 和黑格爾 (George W. F. Hegel, 1770-1831) 的學生與追隨者，之後以立敕爾學派最具影響力，並在十九、廿世紀交替開始主導神學界。自由派的共同特徵包括了：

i) 認同現代思想的主張
ii) 強調每一位神學家都有批判和重建傳統信仰的自由
iii) 自由派神學的重點在於基督教信仰的實際和倫理層面
iv) 自由派神學家認為，神學的任務就是找出基督教信仰的精髓，然後移除外面包裹的外層，如文化概念和表達方式(例如神蹟、天使和魔鬼等超自然人物和啟示)，目的是把精髓更清晰地呈現出來。

自由派乃是致力按當時文化所能接受的形式，來重新陳明基督教信仰。自由派在重建超越性與臨在性的平衡關係時，不會過度偏重神的超越性以致於忽視神的臨在性。重要代表人物：立敕爾 (Albrecht
Ritschl, 1822-1889)、饒申布士 (Walter Rauschenbush, 1861-1918)、納克 (Adolf Harnack, 1851-1930)。
