With a light touch he skims the mind of Raistlin's indifferent progeny, touching the thoughts that lie just on the very surface. However, even without the use of his Power the purple drake would have been aware of their decided course of action; the body language of Wytch Hazel was written clear and bold, and the looks she exchanged with her twin told him the rest. The adoptive Prince has always been an eager and skilled interpreter of nonverbal communcation, but it felt wonderful to at last be able to verify what he suspects and guesses.
His grim amusement grows with every word the Shadow mentally Speaks, and he first contemplates in the privacy of his own mind before transmitting any response. He's so defensive. All the sneering, all the insulting, all the posturing. He wishes he was what he used to be. 'I'll see if I can force myself to think about it'. Surely even he can see how ridiculous that sounds? Take it or leave it, Raistlin, take it or leave it.
Into the much-elder's mind his response comes idly, matching slight for slight and insult for insult. He intentionally makes his MindVoice sound sharp but calm, and rather more arrogant than the purple Prince likes to think of himself as. ~*~I'm sure it does slowly grow, Raistlin, but slowly is the operative word. And I can count better than most.~*~
As he parries sharp words with the self-proclaimed Shadow Lord, he ensures that no prying minds could get so much as a gist of their words. But Bob accompanies his covert communcations with a piercing glare at the dull-black and a flare of his small nostrils that surely could not be accidental; enough in there to guess some measure of what is going on. ~*~Perhaps your age has made you slow because while you were attempting to force your brain to come to grips with the idea of an alliance between ourselves, my quick mind has changed its opinion on the matter. I'm not impressed by your delusions of power, Raistlin, and though you're clever in your own unsubtle way, your arrogance consistently trips you up.~*~ Of all the arbitrary slights he laid upon the Shadow, it is clear to all but the meanest intellect that those in the last sentence are the only ones that have any real meaning to the amethyst. He could probably not care less about the years the other possessed... except that it is clear from Raistlin's obsession with it that it is a weak point in the other's mental armor, and that is where the self-righteously ruthless youth has decided to strike.
