• I am afraid that we've lost several days worth of postings which are mostly the recent ones. We also lost some of the old ones. At least I was able to restore most of them and they are in the archives. This is unfortunate because there were important post and replies that need to be seen. I am trying to find ways to ensure that this will never happen again in the future. Auntie Nomen please repost the news about Lolo Antolin, Manong Tom please repost your link with the photo of your family and Lorna, I remember you had some post about some officers in SAS. • My dear posters and readers of this board, something unexpected happened today to the message board. When I logged into the site today January 18, I found out that many of the messages disappeared and some went into the archives. The messages are now out of sequence. I'll try my best to restore the messages and hopefully I'd be able to restore all of them. The mb probably was affected when the mb services I've signed up for did some routine maintenance.   This is an open invitation for volunteers to serve as linkages or coordinators per country/state so that our website will have linkages anywhere around the globe. Coordinators will serve as contact persons per country/state.
  
  Please send your name, address and e-mail to this website if you are interested. Thank you and may your spirit of volunteerism and return to you a thousandfold! Let us join hands and let Tagudin soar to greater heights and success!
  
  I believe the purpose behind this request is worth pondering over. For one, it is a good thing that the Municipality of Tagudin recognizes the presence of many Tagudinian Associations abroad. And for another, the Municipality of Tagudin recognizes that such Tagudinian Associations abroad are formed, first and foremost, as member support groups. It is also a means by which members can stay current on pertinent news from the homeland, if not from the town of Tagudin proper and its Barangay environs. Ultimately it keeps us Tagudinians in touch with other Tagudinians who are away from home.
  
  That being established, wouldn't it be proper if, like in the Newspaper community we have what we call a "Bureau Chief," or "Main Contact" for the various Tagudinian Associations. This person or persons would have an almost direct line of communications to the Tagudin Municipality operations and would be able to broker important pieces of information back and forth.
  
  Let me give you an example: If there were such Bureau Chiefs or Main Contacts, the plans for the upcoming town fiesta could be announced and disseminated "officially" to all the Tagudinian Associations with one uniform announcement. By the same token, Tagudinians planning to go home to attend the town fiesta could be accommodated by the Bureau Chief or Main Contact informing the town fiesta committee to expect them as guests. It gives the fiesta committee an opportunity to show Tagudinians living abroad that they are still very much a part of the town and are appreciated. The possibilities and benefits are endless.
  
  I can see how the Presidents and Vice Presidents of the various Tagudinian Associations or their Secretaries could easily fit into this role. So go ahead, send the Mayor's Office an email note identifying who your Bureau Chief is or who your Main Contact persons are. Are these the groups that are currently active? In alphabetical order... help me here... somebody....

      • I'm glad to inform you that TAGCOUCHI or TCMC, USA is a compilation of relatives arround the Metro Chicago area. Regarding your proposal to organize a SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION for SAS, I cannot assure you it'll be agreeable for my constituents. This needs an approval not only from its officers but to all relatives who are associated with this group. I has to schedule a meeting & bring this topic to them. I'm not sure if my members will agree with such an idea since some of them had graduated from the Public Schools & some don't even know about Tagudin. According to Lorna there already is an AA SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION in existence complete with officers in place - which is good because now we don't have to worry about reinventing the wheel. I appreciate your mentioning this idea/drive/concept to the members of your esteemed group - the Tagudinian Cousins of Metro Chicago (TAGCOUCHI) or TCMC. That's all we need to do because to put it plainly NO ONE is obligated to do anything for anybody and in this sense we are appealing only to all kindhearted Tagudinians to channel their generosity towards helping our needy school children in Tagudin.   • hi Manong Tom! I got the chance to call Sr. Lulu Dulay icm, the present principal of SAS and got the news that the recent AA Reunion last Dec. 30, 2004 was great. There was an election of new AA officers and if I heard it right Mrs. Leonora Andaya is the president and they just launched the AA SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION. Maybe it is good for you to coordinate with them too or you can give a call to Sr. Lulu for further inquiries about it. I'll be giving their phone numbers next time, I don't have it today.     • Ading Nomen, I like your Noah's Ark metaphor. It moves me to pursue this endeavor further because it is a cause that benefits our very own needy and deserving young children. Sometimes it's hard for our kakailians to take some time from work and log on to the Seaside Park Message Board and be active participants in this worthy cause. Perhaps too some don't even have a PC at home or some kind of access to the internet. At any rate, through word of mouth we can make some headway, starting with small steps. We can only hope, as we continue to get this off the ground, that more of our Kakailians will get to hear about it and participate. And yes including the newly formed Tagudinians of Hawaii (TAGHAW).     • Good point. I absolutely agree. Politics could easily kill a fine effort such as this. In order to minimize the possibility of it being politicized, funds raised/pledged/given should be just collected into one big, common fund earmarked for its purpose, i.e., "Scholarship Fund." In this case, there would be no "individual associations" named as "donors" or "benefactors". The entire fund would just be called, "Tagudinians International Scholarship Fund". It would be like getting a package from the "Salvation Army," or "Catholic Charities," or "UNICEF," or the "UN". Of course in the "account ledger" a breakdown could be maintained. For example, Tagudinians of Chicago (TAGCHI) - $2500.45, Tagudinians of Southern California (TAGSOCAL) - $2500.15, Tagudinians of Canada (TAGCAN) - $2550.96.... etc. (Just some examples).   Like our brother Paul Villanueva suggests in an earlier post, and from the responses of Larry, Elena, Micaela, Oping, Nomen and yes our pastor, Fr. Albert Rabe - we can come together as one "Tagudinian International" community and fund a scholarship program for deserving and needy children.
  
  Wouldn't it be wonderful if our many US-based "Tagudinian Associations" and those that are abroad in other nations and continents could, and would come together and pledge their support to sustain such a scholarship fund?
  
  We have Tagudinians of Northern California, Tagudinians of Southern California, Tagudinians of Chicago, Tagudinians of Canada, Tagudinians of the Eastern United States; we may even have Tagudinians of Italy, Great Britain, Australia, Japan, and Tagudinians of Saudi...
  
  I would like to extend a special invitation to all of you our esteemed brothers and sisters in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco Bay Area, New York/New Jersey, Canada and those in other major cities too numerous to mention... come rally around and let us extend a helping hand to our young children in Tagudin. They are our future! Let us invest in the future of our town.

  • Tom, Allow me to say my piece. "Tagudin" public school system has failed to provide our future doctors, presidents, geniuses a place for a conducive environment for learning. These, I believed is the root cause why we have the "needy" that is less "deserving" for any assistance in there pusuit for higher education. May I recommend solving the root cause by providing them with the necessary tools to overcome the obstacles.     • Thank you Ron kabsat. Indeed, young men and women have passed through those High School gates not getting the decent education they so deserve. Since the government puts education at such a low priority, the infrastructure needed to deliver education suffers. Ultimately, it is the student that suffers mental malnutrition. So, what can we as responsible Tagudinians do for our children? We can build bigger and better classrooms. We can get more computer gear so that our kids can stay abreast of technology. But, even if we build bigger, better-equipped classrooms if the government does not hire more teachers - we are back to ground zero. So why not a scholarship fund that will allow the student to compete for the opportunity to attend a better-equipped school? I believe that all of us Tagudinians abroad could do much to give our children back home a fighting chance.
