THE WORKERS’ FINEST HOUR
Working towards victory 1939 - 1945
A Testimony Films production for ITV WEST/SOUTH WEST
Hi,
I am currently researching a new commemorative six part television series that will be broadcast next year. The Workers’ Finest Hour will be a tribute to all the men and women who worked on the Home Front in the South West during the Second World War.
I am writing to ask whether you can help in locating people in the area over the age of 80 who would have memories of working during WWII?
Additionally, I have included a draft version of my appeal below which outlines our project. I am right at the start of the project so any calls would be purely for research, and all calls are confidential if anyone wanted to contact me. Any help in the form of individuals, organisations or even information about civilian workers during this time would be greatly appreciated and please do contact me if you have any questions or comments.
Best Wishes,
Laura George

Testimony Films, a Bristol television company, is making a commemorative six part series about men and women who worked on the Home Front during the Second World War in the South West - "The Worker's Finest Hour". I would like to hear from anyone who lived or worked in the West Country (Bath, Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Wiltshire) with a story to tell especially if you were working in the following industries:
On the land - (land girls, forestry workers, farmers)
By the sea - (dockers, around the harbour, fisherman)
Railways - (firemen, conductors, drivers)
Mines - (miners, bevin boys),
If you have exciting, interesting or poignant experiences of working for your country during the war please contact me, Laura George on 0117 925 8589, email - laura.george@testimonyfilms.com or write to me at Testimony Films, 12 Great George St, Bristol BS1 5RH.
