Hello ,

I am working on a documentary about the Torrey Canyon oil tanker that ran aground on the Scilly Isles back in 1967. The documentary will air on The History Channel in the United States. I've pasted some additional information about the program below.

I'm contacting you because I'm interested in obtaining some footage of the Scilly Isles. I'm looking for scenic beauty shots to illustrate how beautiful the area is.

Of course, if you know of any footage or photos directly relating to the Torrey Canyon incident I would love to know about those as well.

Unfortunately, I'm working on an extremely tight deadline so I would greatly appreciate hearing your thoughts as soon as possible.

Please write to me directly at corriek@actualprod.com. Thank you in advance for considering my request.

I am working on an episode of "Modern Marvels" for Actuality Productions. Actuality Productions is an award-winning documentary company producing programming for the History Channel, Discovery Channel and A&E Television. "Modern Marvels" is the critically acclaimed, long-running series which airs on The History Channel in the U.S. We have produced close to 300 episodes of "Modern Marvels" for The History Channel. Each hour-long show looks at the human ingenuity and technology "behind the scenes" of the modern world. The trademark of the "Modern Marvels" series is to focus on engineering and technology. Previous episodes have chronicled everything from the Apollo 11 Mission to the Eiffel Tower. You can learn more about "Modern Marvels" at http://www.historychannel.com/modernmarvels/

The episode I'm currently working on is called, Engineering Disasters. I will be including a segment on the grounding of the Torrey Canyon in the episode. Each segment presents an unbiased documentation of the incident that took place and then focuses on the engineering lessons that were learned as a result. These shows are not sensationalistic and our goal with this show is not to lay blame, but rather to take an educational look at the engineering behind certain failures and to highlight the technology that was developed to prevent similar scenarios. Each episode focuses on the technology and engineering improvements that came about because of an accident. On previous episodes we have worked closely with British Airways, Bally's Casino, Alleghany Energy and BP just to name a few. The Torrey Canyon is an ideal story for the segment because it will be a springboard for a look at how much tanker technology has changed since then.
