His escape had already been made by the time Firelight thought to react. Only the faintest ghost of snapping teeth propelled vile breath across his russet pelt. Muscles clenched and relaxed as he squared off with the female. Cool brown eyes surveyed her neutrally, the fire from his earlier rage simmering hidden below the surface. So she was waiting on him to attack again? Tsk tsk, Firelight, when did you lose your backbone? Tilting his head, he favored her with a detached stare.

"What is it? Did you decide that attacking me would be another exercise in foolishness?" Yes, he was goading her. This was like old times when he and Adrian had battled it out. Only, Adrian had proved to be a mite more of a challenge. Oh well, it was still early.
