Subject: Results TXR 7/15/2011

It was a great night of racing at Texas Raceway in Kennedale, TX. The July heat was brutal, but it cooled off nicely and we put on one heck of a show. A big thanks goes out to Texas Raceway for having us!

First Round Qualifying

1. Chris Dollar 4.754 at 151.97mph
2. David Baldwin 4.770 at 141.77mph
3. Dave Moser 4.779 at 144.67mph
4. Dewayne Pebworth 4.824 at 144.38
5. Chris Gulitti 4.871 at 145.93 (New Member)
6. Laramie Reid 4.918 at146.64
7. Eddie Roach 4.935 at 156.32
8. Wade White 5.054 at 145.03 (New Member)
----
9. Kent Birkes 12.038 at 79.70mph
10. Mat Thomas 4.683 at 151.99mph
11. Alan Powell 4.677 at 142.99mph

Final Qualifying (Sorry, we are missing MPH)
1. Chris Gulitti with a 4.719
2. Chris Dollar with a 4.724
3. Alan Powell with a 4.725
4. David Baldwin with a 4.732
5. Mat Thomas with a 4.742
6. Dave Moser with a 4.757
7. Eddie Roach with a 4.771
8. Dewayne Pebworth with a 4.801
---
Unfortunately, Laramie Reid, Kent Birkes, and Wade White didn’t make the 8 car field.

Round 1 Eliminations (Name/RT/ET/MPH)
Chris Dollar .034 / 4.751 / 151.99
Eddie Roach .091 / 4.686 / 157.39

Eddie was going quicker every pass, however he pushes it a little too far handing the win to Chris “Wild Turkey” Dollar.

Chris Gulitti .077 / 4.840 / 131.06
Dewayne Pebworth .035 / 5.761 / 99.74

Chris Gulitti makes the long trip up from Houston. Chris is on another good pass and takes an easy win this round.

Mat Thomas .029 / 4.715 / 148.22
David Baldwin .065 / 4.733 / 142.01

These two guys have been battling for the points lead all season. Mat was really on his game for this race. David didn’t show any mercy, but Mat turns the win light on.

Alan Powell .080 / 4.737 / 139.08
Dave Moser .070 / 4.809 / 144.63

While Alan and Dave are friends off the track, the gloves came off here. Alan was on a stellar pass while Dave’s car just couldn’t get there fast enough.

Round 2 Eliminations
Alan Powell .201 / 4.770 / 139.59
Chris Dollar .297 / 4.696 / 151.97

Both guys said the tree fired very quickly. Obviously it caught them asleep at the wheel. Alan wins this round by being better on the tree and pushing Chris through a little too fast.

Mat Thomas .033 / 4.708 / 150.05
Chris Gulitti .029 / 4.716 / 150.08

What a close race. MOV was .0044 in Mat’s favor. Good job to both drivers for making this round so close.

Finals
Alan Powell .080 / 4.693 / 140.65
Mat Thomas .030 / 4.687 / 148.95

Alan takes the win in the finals over Mat. The stats tell the whole story here.

Congratulations to Alan and Kathy Powell and crew! These guys deserve a win after all the hard work and dedication they have had to make their car run in Outlaw Top Sportsman.

Also thanks to our class sponsors: Brink Racecraft, Ace Racing Transmissions, Nitrous Outlet, Rainbow Vacuums, Neal Chance Racing Converters, Ferry’s Cylinder Head and Block Repair, RPM Performance Data Loggers, and D&L Machine and Racing Engines.

Another note, when you see Gilbert and Kacy at the next race, be sure and tell them thank you for all they do for the class. Gilbert keeps things running smoothly and Kacy gets all the pictures and videos, takes care of the t-shirt sales, and keys in these results so we can add comments and get them posted quickly. All of these things benefit you as members. So again, take a minute to shake their hand and tell them that you appreciate what they do for us.

It was a good time Friday night! Look forward to more races! Need to sharpen my sword for those kind of battles with Matt. Thanks for the hospitality Gilbert, very appreciated! Cool group, did not get to meet everyone, but will try to next time out.
