We had a great race in Wichita Falls. The weather was great, and about dark the wind calmed. There were four new members.

Gilbert was at Super Chevy and we missed him, as you will see with the comments. If there are any errors in this post let me know and I will correct. Here goes.

POINDEXTER C .5296 4.8650 147.88
POWELL A .4523 4.9139 142.99

BALDWIN D .4982 5.0229 132.35
SPECK R (New Member) .6324 5.4395 121.36

Final Qualifying position

NAME RT ET MPH

MOSER D .4611 4.7050 153.64
SCOTT T .5174 4.7059 154.69
DOLLAR C .5175 4.7314 151.52
ROACH E .4534 4.7363 144.23
GREEN G .4015 4.7533 148.22
DEMOSS B .5480 4.7687 148.22
POINDEXTER C .5489 4.7713 139.58
LIGON J .7636 4.7814 146.06

THOMAS M .5039 4.7919 149.85
SATTERFIELD C .0000 4.8112 146.39
CLARK E .4278 4.8342 146.91
BALDWIN D .4665 4.8455 136.61
POWELL A .4523 4.9139 142.99
SPECK R .6324 5.4395 121.36

Notice that we had two 4.70 qualifiers.

Eliminations: Round 1

Ligon .568 4.76 136.28
Moser .443 5.082 120.00

Two of the Wichita guys lined up in the first round. Dave was out first, but got out of it in the middle and Jay roared past to coast to his first OTS round win.

Roach .514 4.727 150.15
Green .386 4.690 147.30

Greg was a little to quick on the trigger in the cool looking ’57, giving the win to the always tough Red Oak Gang.

Scott .422 4.702 147.69
Poindexter .411 4.799 138.38

Chuck’s great light could not save him from Troy’s 4.70 run in the sharp looking Opel. Troy had a long drive down from the Stillwater, OK area. What a first round for this new member!

Dollar .440 4.723 144.88
DeMoss .511 4.751 144.65

Chris was back to his winning ways, as Butch worked his way toward the 4.70 goal. Good to have another good looking blown car. Butch made his way down from Guthrie, OK.

Eliminations: Round 2

Ligon .507 4.736 149.25
Dollar 5.243 000 000

Jay gets a break as Chris has the worst reaction time ever when his throttle linkage breaks. We don’t call him “Big Foot” for nothing.

Roach .428 4.765 140.58
Scott .505 4.705 154.43

Eddie cuts a great light to defeat another 4.70 run by Troy. We are going to have to watch this guy. Not bad for his first OTS race.

Final round:

Ligon .411 4.719 149.25
Roach .456 4.738 156.25

Eddies BIG MPH was not enough this time to catch Jay’s mean green Army truck.

We also had a consolation race with the track helping on the purse (thanks Darrell). Six cars did not make the field and still put on a great show for the fans. Baldwin chose not to participate and Allen Powell broke something in the driveline on the way to staging (it sounded pretty bad in there).

First round (consolation)

Clark
Satterfield

Sorry, I did not get the times on this pair of cars.

Thomas .4577 4.7003 150.85
Speck

Richard left before the tree was activated and did not get a time. I saw Richard run a 4.76 latter that night. He is going to get it right. Mat was running our program by himself, and a new converter. He found the tuneup he was looking for.

Final (consolation)

Thomas .4128 4.7527 148.12
Clark .4248 4.7706 157.51

Mat had a slight advantage on the tree then scrubbed off a little on the big end to insure the win. Clark Bros with the ProCharger have some serious horsepower for that MPH.

Congrats to Jay Ligon and his crew for the great job they did of dialing the ’34 Chevy pickup from #8 qualifying position into the .70’s and the winners circle. A fan told me that Jay’s ride was the “badest assed truck on the planet” (see pics below---they do not do this hotrod justice)!
Congrats to Eddie and all his great crew for runner up. I think that makes 3 in a row for Eddie. Always a bride’s maid…….

Thanks for Darrell for giving us such a great track to race on. It is a great facility and we appreciate the effort of all the staff to pull off an event like this.

Again we need to thank our sponsors. Nitrous Express for their #1 Qualifier $100 gift certificate going to Dave Moser. A $100.00 gift certificate was donated by RPM Performance for the best burnout of the night. Also thanks to Brink Racecraft for their generous contribution to the points fund.

We need a volunteer to run the point total for OTS. Any volunteers? ROG-Randy? Thanks.
