Es cierto, no había caído en el detalle.

No se trata de una excomunión, sanción impuesta por la Iglesia ante determinados delitos eclesiásticos, sino de que la Iglesia considera que una persona en tal situación se encuentra en un estado que no le permite acudir a comulgar.

Digamos que cualquier persona en estado de pecado mortal tampoco se encuentra en condiciones de recibir el sacramento de la Eucaristía, y esto no implica una expulsión de la comunión con la Iglesia (excomunión) como bien ha indicado Rocco Clemente.
