Okay, I am pretty drugged up at the moment, so don't mind me if I say something strange.

Thank you so much to all of you that have had me in your thoughts and prayers. It is appreciated more than you know!

Monday, before my procedure, they did an X-ray, so they knew exactly where the stone was before they tried to break it up. The stone was a lot bigger than they could tell on the ultrasound. It was over 2cm. About the circumference of a quarter. (That is HUGE for a kidney stone) I also had a fever before they ever started. The nurses at the surgery center were wonderful and treated me like gold. I remember the nurse telling me that they were giving me versed (sp?) to relax me, and then would be moving me to the Operating Room and putting me out. The next thing I remember is waking up in major pain back in the same room. They attempted to medicate me suffiently, but nothing was working. The doctor came in and told me that my urethra (the tube that runs from the kidney to the bladder, where they place the stent) had a very very small opening, so they stent was stretching it even more than usual and I was spasming in response. Also, they could only break up about 1/2 of the stone and I will have to have another ESWL or surgery in two weeks (when it is safe to do it again) They transferred me to the main hospital and admitted me. I remained there, doped up on Morphine and some other stuff until yesterday afternoon. I really wanted to come home, and I was feeling a little better, so they finally discharged me around 1:00 yesterday. I got home and was doing as well as to be expected until about 12:30 pm when I had an onset of the most horrible pain I have ever experienced. Way worse than labor, even, and I had a baby with no medication!! Mike took me to the ER at 3:00 am and they doped me up, told me that I STILL or AGAIN have a terrible infection, gave me IV antibiotics, took a CAT scan, found no blockage, and told me I was in the process of passing part of the stone, and sent me home with more potent painkillers and even more antibiotics around 9:00 am. I am still in pain, but nothing like I was last night/this morning. If I have another episode like that, I just have to keep going to the ER for pain management and then they will get me comfortable and send me home. *sigh*
Well, there's the short version for right now.

*Hugs*
