Subject: social security

I'm tired. I've been working under the Social Security System since l96l, and been subject to Medicare taxes
ever since they became popular with everyone but me.
I will be fifty-four, come October, and it wouldn't break my
heart any to see some light at the end of the tunnel.
Neither of my parents lived long enough to collect Social
Security payments, having worked themselves to death
back when the work ethic counted for something, sometime
prior to our current giveaway system of government.
I wasn't especially thrilled when they raised the retirement
age.
They threw me a bone with the right to save some money
toward my eventual retirement, via 40lk accounts. How
do I explain to the IRS that by the time my paycheck has
been masticated by them and the Social Security System,
I have no after-tax dollars to spare toward an independent
retirement income.
I wish I could say I live well...do I wish!!
I work in a high-stress job and for some reason I know that
I will not beat the SSS's actuarial tables and live long enough to collect anything but the well-wishes of the
bureaucrats who I've paid, ever since I've had a working
permit, to oversee my eventual retirement.
Thanks for allowing me to gripe.I needed that!
