To all that came and fought at Franklin this year, my hat is off to each of you that made the event special for me. I owe much to my Texans, ya'll have been the folks that told me you lead and we will follow and to this day you have kept your word.

I will not go into what did happen or didn't happen, but will say, it was top notch each time for me when I would speak in first person to so many of you and when some many would ask me questions in first person. One of the high points was during the attack at the works, when a Lt. walked up and stated "Gen. Cheatham, Gen. Grandbury is dead, can you send a wagon and take him off the field sir, we beg you to have his body taken to the rear" I informed him , that I would, then I asked "is this all that is left of Grandbury's Brigade" yes sir. Damn Gen. Hood, I told him this was not going to work, that all of us would die trying.

You made the event special for me, I hope that I did not let any of you men down, I will try and make things better at Corinth in 05. And I look forward to my Texans , looking good, ready to fight, and never crying about this or that, they always say "tell us what you want us to do, and we will do it"

Take care this winter, see ya this spring.
Gen. Mike Moore
