The General Assembly
Increasing Public Education Expenditure

The General Assembly,

Public Education Expenditure is not doing very well in Egypt so it becomes an important issue that I must bring up to the United Nations. Egypt has one of the lowest Public Education Expenditure in the Middle East and is fairly low compared to most of the world.

As the Ambassador of Egypt, I am concerned for my country. The education rating in my country is fairly low and if we do not spend enough money on education we will not have a successful country. The Adult Literacy Rate is extremely high in Egypt along with the Middle East, but not spending enough money on education is a concern.

I. Expresses Deep Concern

(A) Egypt has a very low Public Education Expenditure Rate, along with other countries in the Middle East. This is a concern because children and teenagers are not receiving the proper education that they should deserve. Only the rich people’s children may receive a very good education. That is not fair to the other people. You are basically born into your social classes with a few exceptions. It is not fair if someone wants to learn and cannot because they do not have enough money for a private school.

(B) When of the best gifts you can receive in life is an education. If not enough money is set aside for education then you can not receive one of the greatest gifts in life. Egypt has a high population under 15 and if those children do not receive a good education, there will be no intelligent leaders in the near future. A public school in Egypt should have well educated teachers and smaller classroom sizes. There are over a 100 kids in one classroom at a time.

(C) Most teenagers and children do not finish secondary school, they only finish primary school. Egypt should have more kids finishing secondary school so they may receive a better education. However, it is not always the children or teenagers fault. Some of them must drop out of secondary school or stop after primary school because their family needs them to help out at the house or because of there social classes.

II. Is Aware That

(A) Egypt is aware that setting aside more money for education is difficult and that the economy is not ready to have more money set aside.

(B) Egypt is also aware that the UN believes education is important and wants to increase education and adult literacy rate. Egypt understands that it is difficult to deal with but setting money aside for education is important. Egypt also knows that the UN has to budget a ton of money and has to separate the money as evenly as they can in order to make each category have enough.

(C) A third issue Egypt is aware of is that the education in Egypt is not suffering. There are other categories that need the money more than education. Also, the Egypt understands that there is a lot of tension between the Middle East these days and they have to spend more money on building Iraq back up after the United States invaded it.

III Recommends

(A) That the Security Council:
1. One solution that Egypt believes that the UN should do is budget the money and put aside more to spend on education.

2. Another solution Egypt recommends is the UN should also have more money to have better school supplies such as desks, computers and books.

3. A third solution that Egypt suggests is more money could be used to educate young people who want to become teachers so they can be excellent teachers.

4. A fourth solution that will help is the UN should spend more money and more quality time having after school activities so the children and teenagers have somewhere to go after school.

5. A fifth solution that Egypt recommends is there should be more money saved towards building new schools because during a normal day there are over 100 children or teenagers in a classroom at one time.

6. A sixth solution that Egypt suggests is that there should be smaller classrooms sizes so there are not so many students at one time and each classroom should be separated by grade level.

7. A seventh solution that Egypt supports is that schools should have longer hours and more days during the week. Children and Teenagers in Egypt only attend school four days a week for a couple of hours.
