This year we added SOTY. This pageant is for those that do not qualify for NOTY. They too will also win a $5,000.00 bond just like the NOTY winner!
If your new, NOTY is a Novice only pageant. Its out 4th Year. Jan. 16-18,2009 in Houston, Texas at the Hobby Hilton. Southwest runs great specials into Houston.

We are having 2 stages and 2 sets of judges. NOTY is its own pageant and SOTY is its own pageant with one big crowning.

The Miss Black Ohio USA Scholarship Pageant is seeking delegates to compete in its next competition in August 2008. Miss delegates (ages 17-27) compete for the title of Miss Black Ohio USA 2009 and Teens (ages 13-16) compete for the title of Miss Black Ohio USA Talented Teen 2009. The new Miss Queen receives at least a $1,000 scholarship at the end of her reign as part of her prize package. The Teen Queen receives at least a $500 savings bond at the end of her reign. The new Miss and Teen Queens also receive expenses paid to the Miss Black USA and Miss Black USA Talented Teen Pageant, respectively, where the Miss normally receives a $20,000 scholarship and the teen will receive a $5,000 scholarship as part of their prize packages.
Interested candidates must meet the age guidelines listed above and must be a US Citizen and must be any percentage African-American (Black). They must have at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale, and must live in, go to school in or work in Ohio.
The entry fee for the pageant is $175, which includes some meals. The fee does not include hotel accommodations, some meals, or transportation, nor does it include the fee for the optional photogenic competition. A minimum $50 deposit with your application holds your spot in the competition. All delegates must also sell at least one full-page ad in the Pageant Program Book. The delegate who sells the most ads will be named the Miss Black Ohio USA Ambassador and will also receive a crown and sash. The deadline for all applications, fees, photos and other paperwork is July 12, 2008, but it is recommended you get your applications and deposits in early, as applications will no longer be accepted once our maximum contestant number is reached.
You can also save on your entry fee by participating in the Essay Contest. The application fee for the Essay Contest is $25, and one lucky Teen and Miss will receive her $175 entry fee paid to the pageant. The Essay Contest is currently in progress and the deadline for applications is February 1, 2008. Winners will be announced on February 18, 2008.
For more information on the Miss Black, visit the website at www.missblackohiousa.org. You may also download and print the applications for both the pageant and the essay contest from the website. Applications can also be sent by email or US Mail. Just email the Vanessa King, Executive Director, at MissBlackOhioUSA@aol.com if you want the applications sent by US Mail or email, indicating which application(s) you want and if you which way you want them sent. Also indicate a mailing address if requesting applications be sent by US Mail.
Note: We also have preliminary directors for Dayton and Greene County/Clark County/Lima. There will be a Miss and a Teen Delegate selected in each of these areas. Also, if there are enough delegates from Central State and Wilberforce Universities, there will also be a Miss delegate selected from these Universities. For information on the preliminary competitions, email the Executive Director at MissBlackOhioUSA@aol.com.

Hello!
We have reduced the entry fee for the 2007 Miss Black Ohio USA Scholarship pageant and have made it into a 2-day event rather than a 3-day event. The pageant will take place at the Shedd Theater, located in the Columbus Performing Arts Center, in downtown Columbus and will be on Saturday and Sunday only, August 11-12. Anyone wanting to still arrive on Friday night, since you will most likely be either 8:00 Am or 9:00 AM on Saturday, can stay at our host hotel or at a hotel of your choice.
The new entry fee for Teens is $150 and for Miss $250. Teens will not be required to stay at the hotel and only need to report for scheduled events and Miss Delegates will be sharing rooms. Should teen delegates decide to stay at the hotel, their fee will be the same as the Miss delegates. All delegates are still required to purchase the $100 ad page used for the photogenic competition. If you are a Miss do not want to room alone or room with a family member or other non-contestant, you will pay $50 for the other half of the room cost. Should any teen decide to stay at the hotel and does not want to share rooms with another delegate, she will also pay the additional $50. For those wanting to stay on Friday night, please let me know as we see how many are interested so we can find roommates; you will pay $50 for the Friday night stay or $100 if you do not want to share rooms with another delegate.
All applications, fees, paperwork and photos are due by July 18; we may extend the deadline even later, depending on the number of applications received. However, the hotel reservation deadline is July 20, so that deadline cannot be extended. That means you will have to make your reservations yourself and pay whatever the rate is at that time.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to compete in the Ohio Pageant and be selected as Miss Black Ohio USA 2007 or Miss Teen Black Ohio USA 2007. Our Miss Division winner will go on to compete at the national Pageant in June 2008 in The Gambia, in conjunction with their Roots Festival. This year, every delegate received a full scholarship to the college of her choice, $5000 cash before leaving The Gambia and were appointed by the Gambian President as Good Will Ambassadors. Those selected as Ambassadors will have an opportunity for additional travel to The Gambia. Delegates also were invited back for the Inauguration Ball on July 22 to celebrate the 7th year of the President's reign in office. Those electing to go will again receive an all-expense paid trip (airfare, hotel, ground transportation and meals paid) for this trip and will be staying 10-17 days; they will leave for The Gambia on July 11 or July 18 and return on July 28. They will be paired with a young lady in The Gambia who will be competing as delegates in a pageant to be named "Miss July 22," to work with her to prepare her for competition. Note: The delegates are also currently conducting a book drive to help fill a library's shelves at the new library at one of the schools that has been named The Miss Black USA Library. Delegates will be taking the opportunity during this trip to take books with them to help fill the shelves. If anyone is interested in donating books, please contact me, as Chavin Rucker, Miss Black Ohio USA 2006, will be going on this return trip. I do not know of any pageant where the state winners were given such a prize package It has not yet been released as the total prizes the national pageant winner and runner-ups received this year. I do know that a dinner in the honor of Miss Black USA 2007, Kalilah Allen of Tennessee, was held after the rest of us returned back to the US. Kalilah was presented with $100,000 in custom-designed diamond and gold jewelry! Now tell me, do you want to miss out on such an opportunity?
If you haven't done so already, get your applications in before it's too late! I am sure that the 2008 national pageant will be just as amazing as this year! For those who have not yet applied as a delegate yet, please contact me by email or phone ASAP for the paperwork, which can be sent by email or US Mail. For those you have applications and have not yet sent them in, there are documents and forms that are part of the application packet that are not in the packet you received as additional paperwork would be sent out to you after we received your initial application and deposit. Full packets containing all paperwork are now being sent out since the deadline will be here soon. If you have your application packet and have not sent in all your required paperwork, ads and fee balances, please make sure you do so before the deadline.
For those in the teen pageant, we now have a national competition operate by one of our other state directors called Teen Essence, that we plan to send our teen winner to. This is also a scholarship pageant and has similar areas of competition that Miss Black Ohio has. It is open to ages 4-18, so if anyone knows of any younger girls who may want to participate, please contact me. I am working with the Teen Essence Director on recruiting delegates.

A Statewide Search is on for Delegates for the Miss Black Ohio USA Scholarship Pageant.
The Miss Black Ohio USA Scholarship Pageant is searching for young ladies and women who are Intelligent, Talented, Poised, and Beautiful. If that is you, do not miss this once in a lifetime opportunity!
There will be a Teen and a Miss Pageant. Preliminary Pageants are scheduled this year in Columbus on May 21 and Dayton on June 3. The Columbus Preliminary is open to all eligible contestants. There will only be a Miss Pageant for the Dayton Prelimnary, which is open to eligible contestants in the Dayton, Cincinnati and the Greater Dayton areas.
One delegate from each Preliminary Pageant, in each division, will be selected as the overall winner and will receive her entry fees paid to the state competition in Columbus August 4-6. Winners of the interview, talent, and beauty (evening gown and fitness) categories will receive a discounted fee to the state competition. We will not double-crown.
The candidate select as "Miss Black Ohio USA" will go on to compete against 50 other state delegates vying for the title of "Miss Black USA" 2006 in October in Washington, D.C. State delegates will enjoy one week of promotional activities in the Nation’s Capital, culminating with the final competition which includes Fitness, Talent, Evening Gown, Interview (Preliminary Competition), and On-stage Question and Answer (Final Competition). One deserving delegate will be crowned "Miss Black USA" 2006 at the national competition, and will receive scholarship money, an array of prizes, and media exposure, with opportunities to speak both in the United States and abroad.
The delegate selected as "Miss Teen Black Ohio USA" will hold the state title and receive a scholarship savings bond. She will have the opportunity to make appearances throughout the state with "Miss Black Ohio USA" including attending the national pageant.
Eligibility Requirements
You must be African American and a natural-born female.
You must be at least 17 years of age an no older than 27 years of age for the Miss Pageant and have graduated from high school by the date of the national competition.
You must be at least 13 years of age and no older than 17 years of age for the Teen Pageant.
If you are a Miss delegate, you must be a resident of Ohio, attending college in, or be employed in the state of Ohio. If you are a teen delegate, you must be a resident of Ohio, currently attending school and must not have yet graduated from high school by the time of the national pageant if you are 17 years of age.
You must have a talent.
You must be single; never married. You can have children.
You must be a United States Citizen.
You may not have competed more than twice at the national Miss Black USA Pageant and may not have represented Ohio more than once; Miss Teen Black Ohio USA may compete in the Miss Division, once she meets the Miss Pageant requirements.
Competition Categories
Personal Interview 35%
Fitness 15%
Talent 30%
Evening Gown 20%
The top five finalists will re-compete in the same categories as above except On Stage Question and Answer replaces Interview.

We are currently interviewing and casting for an upcoming show that will document the life of beauty pageant contestants. We plan to follow several people who are preparing and training for an upcoming pageant and include in the mix: family, friends, coaches (walking, interviewing, Etc…), and peers who support them.
America is obsessed with pageants and the beautiful girls that enter them. So why do you compete? How far would you go to win? Do your peers give you a hard time? The MS. CURVES AMERICA PLUS PAGEANT is seeking contestants to compete in the 2006 National Pageant, February 10-11, 2006 in Timonium, Maryland. The pageant "Celebrates Beauty at every Size"
The reigning Ms. Curves America 2005, BONNIE ICKES will crown the new Ms. Curves America national winners. Four (4) national winners will be crowned.
Contestants must be ladies, ages 18-over, size 14 plus, and may be single or married. The national delegates will compete in Interview, Casual Wear, Fashion Wear and Evening Wear.
Upon their arrival on February 10, 2006 the national delegates will attend a Press Reception and Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Dinner. A representative from the Komen Maryland Foundation will be in attendance to accept the donations raised by the national delegates.

The Beauties of America Pageant is celebrating its 22nd year with new directorship, a new website, new national location and expanded prize offerings that continue to grow.
The 2006 Beauties of America Pageant will be held from August 17 - 20 at the beautiful Myrtle Beach Convention Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Delegates will stay at the adjacent Sheraton Hotel, a four-diamond resort property.
The Beauties of America Pageant is unique in that delegates only compete in their age decade (Teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, and 50s & Up). 0-35 months Baby, 3-4 Mini Miss, 5-7 Tiny Miss, 8-10 Little Miss, 11-13 Jr. Teen Miss, 14-17 Teen Miss, 18-28 Miss
18-40 Ms. (marital status optional).
20-up Ms. Beauty (plus size) Natural Pageant that allows embellished clothing, and natural looking children.

The 2005 MS. CURVES AMERICA PLUS PAGEANT is seeking contestants (ladies ages 18-up, single or married) to compete for the National Ms. Curves America titles.
The pageant will be held on May 7, 2005 at the Best Western Hotel & Conference Center in Baltimore, Maryland. State delegates will compete in Four (4) Size Divisions (Ruby sz.14-16, Emerald sz.18-20, Sapphire sz. 22-24 & Amethyst sz. 26+)for the Ms. Curves America 2005 National titles.
The deadline to enter is MARCH 30, 2005.
ENTRY FEE: $175
PLEASE NOTE. State titles are issued on a first come, first serve basis.
PLEASE NOTE. We must receive your entry by the deadline to order your personalized State Banner. State Crown is also available to purchase. PRE-REGISTER ON-LINE TO SECURE YOUR STATE TITLE. Once we award the state title, no one else can have that state title, in your age group or state. Pageant is more natural than glitz. We allow glitzy attire, but, more natural children.
Your entry fee includes:
your beautiful state crown,
rhinestone monogrammed sash,
entry paid to nationals for the main title,
your national photogenic entry paid
your miss congeniality entry paid
your 2005 national program book (1) given at nationals
your national 2005 pageant T-shirt (1) given at nationals

I think the Miss Ohio Program was wonderful this year. I had a wonderful time and was very pleased with the results, look forward to seeing Amanda win Miss America and met lots of young women I hope to see competing again soon.
Tiffany H - Very cute girl, don't know too well but look forward to see competing in the future.
Leslie - What a dramatic change, amazing! Last nights talent performance was spectacular. Hope you do Sweetheart and give them a run for their money!
Nikole - Another cute little girl. Another one I hope to see competing at more locals this year.
Abby - You can tell you worked hard and it showed. You really did well this year and I am very proud of you.
Jennie - Congratulations on 4th RU! You looked wonderful and your talent was amazing! What a way to end a wonderful era in your life.
Ashley - Licking County has a strong program and you did them very well. I hope you enjoyed your time as much as I enjoyed watching you perform this year.
Julie - You have such a presence and you were just simply amazing. I am so thrilled with how much you have grown over the past few years. I can truly see you on the Miss America stage.
Marlia - You were wonderful as always and you look very good. During finals night, your face lit up the stage and you seemed to have enjoyed yourself a lot.
Jill B - Congrats on your talent award! You also seemed to greatly enjoy yourself in every phase of competition.
Erin - You performed very nicely throughout the week and also seemed to be having a great time. Hope you enjoyed your first trip to Miss Ohio!
Amanda B - You looked amazing, you sounded amazing, you worked hard and it paid off. Its so exciting to have someone as wonderful as you as a friend and now a Miss Ohio. I can hardly wait to get to Atlantic City!
Kelly - You were wonderful and it was great to see you in the top ten. You have grown so much with this program and I wish you the best of luck in the future.
Kim - Congrats on winning the Mina O'Guinn Award, what an honor. I have enjoyed seeing you grow up with this system and will miss seeing you compete. It was nice to see you introduced by your boss, maybe it will help when its time for a raise!
Kristen - You are another one who has really matured over the years and it has been great to be able to witness that. You worked really hard and did very well.
Andrea - You looked beautiful during talent. I miss you singing Woman, hope you bring it back for next year, you perfected that song! Have fun in London this fall!
April - Congratulations. I am sure preparing for Miss Ohio wasn't easy with the demands of being a teacher but I am sure your students as well as your fans are very proud of you.
Amanda R - Your casual wear outfit was the best one this year and your onstage interview was great. I hope you had a lot of fun and I look forward to seeing you at Miss Ohio next year.
Laura - You are a beautiful girl and you carry yourself extremely well in every phase of competition. Congrats on your many awards and hope to see you at NC or Ohio next year.
Jeana - What an amazing time you have had over the past few years. You really put in a lot of time and effort in after your first round at Miss Ohio and I was so thrilled to have you in the top ten. You are a wonderful person and I am glad to have met you.
Jen H - Congratulations on doing so well in only your second pageant. You are an amazing pianist and a beautiful young lady. Thanks for giving this system a try and I hope you had fun.
Jillian - You win for being the most improved contestant over the year. You really have made great strides and not only being highest scored dancer but also top ten. You looked like you had a lot of fun and everyone is proud of you.
Overall, I know the judges must have had a hard time with these girls, what an outstanding group we had this year. I hope we can have all of those who are eligible come back along with a lot of new ones. The Miss Ohio program has the potential to be a very strong state and I am glad to be a part of it. Good Job everyone! Good luck with your upcoming year!
