I have to admit that always got me to. It was horrible what happened to their ancestors, and then again not all black ancestors where slaves (were they?). In any case, while the racial issues that persist today obviously stem from way back then, it did not happen to you directly so why such a racially defensive stance from blacks alive today?
I don't hear Jews or Irish stomping around blaming others and they both went through their share of their own racism. I think they raised above it all, made their own lives, and put it all behind them.
I also never understood reparations, why should someone now get money from what happened to their great-great-grandfather? I never understood why they would get paid for something that happened so long ago, to someone they didn't know, and who's life is has not impacted theirs directly.
I'm probably going to get wrath from this, and in the past whenever we talk about racial issues here on this forum, it just gets ugly and I have to rip the cord. I hope that doesn't happen this time.
