Subject: Trial Delayed For Teen Charged In Cop's Murder Author: Chris [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: 11/ 4/09 2:28pm In reply to: Chris 's message, "picking jury in teen accused of killing police officer" on 10/12/09 6:42pm Trial Delayed For Teen Charged In Cop's Murder November 2, 2009 11/2/09 - The trial of a Detroit teen charged in the fatal shooting of an Oak Park Police Officer from Livingston County has been delayed indefinitely. 17-year old Jonathon Belton is charged with first degree murder in the December 28th shooting death of 28-year old Mason Samborski of Howell. Police say Belton shot the officer during a struggle after a traffic stop. Belton’s pretrial hearing had been set for Friday in Oakland County Circuit Court, with his trial set for December 3rd. However, court records indicate his pretrial hearing will instead be held December 3rd with no new trial date scheduled. Belton is represented by Southfield Attorney Geoffrey Fieger, who has requested the additional time in order to conduct further investigation into the case.
