As told to me via telephone (the other 'JM' is out of town at this time):

"Kev and Kel, the world was different when those things were happening. God had his reasons for the laws he set forth at that time. If you have read that far in the Bible, keep going, it gets better.

It would be best if you took your questions to a church clergy. It would be easier and better explained in person."
