Fieger's ex-lawyer files suit

PONTIAC, Mich. -- A Detroit attorney who represented prominent Michigan lawyer Geoffrey Fieger in a dispute with the state Supreme Court is suing his former client, claiming he hasn't been paid thousands of dollars in legal fees.

The Detroit Free Press reports Richard Steinberg filed the suit _ citing breach of contract and unjust enrichment _ in Oakland County Circuit Court on Wednesday, seeking a jury trial.

According to Steinberg's attorney, Richard Poling, Steinberg is owed a significant amount of cash by the Southfield-based Fieger.

The lawsuit claims Steinberg seeks a minimum of $25,000.

A hearing on the case is to be set in the next two months.

Steinberg was one of several lawyers representing Fieger in his attempt to force four Michigan Supreme Court justices to step aside from considering cases involving him on grounds of bias.
