Subject: Bechtel/Biddle DNA Match

I am posting to this because I am trying to figure out why I (Donald Biddle), and my cousin (Kenneth Biddle), recorded a Y-DNA match, at a “genetic distance” of only (4), with a descendant of George BECHTOL (c1772) of PA. We were also a close match to a descendant of Johann Burkhart BECHTOLD/BECHTEL (c1725-1790) who was born in Rhineland-Palatinate, and of Chester Co., Pa. Strangely, neither of us are a close match to any of the BIDDLE donors. Ken and I descend from Joseph H Biddle (c 1787), who lived in Jefferson Township, Allegheny County, PA. We have a well-documented paper trail to Joseph, but can find nothing definitive about his origins or siblings. We know that he enlisted in the army in 1813 at Upper Darby, Delaware County, PA, had 12 children, and was married to Mary Patterson, who is interned at Lobbs Run Cemetery in Jefferson Twp, Allegheny Co, Pa. We think that we do not match any BIDDLE donors and that our BIDDLE trail ends at Joseph because he or his parents changed their name to BIDDLE. The DNA results prove that there is a “common ancestor” linking these families. We would appreciate any help in finding the link that ties these two Pennsylvania families together.
