The stars will cry the blackest tears tonight

And this is the moment that i live for

I can smell the ocean air.

Here i am pouring my heart on to these roof tops

The sky was dark, like a royal blue fabric hung up and pinned back by stars. The darkness wove itself into a blinding mesh in the forest, limiting the palette of human sight to white, black, and shades of gray. Trees loomed ominously, their branches destroying the artwork of the night sky. The moon was full, but offered little light to see by. A human wandering in these forests would be tripping over things, would be lost and confused, and certainly frightened as his pitiful senses picked up on the sounds of predators honed to kill by nature's design. But to Madison, who was currently passing through this forest, this was not the case. Her ears caught every scurry of a mouse, every flicker of a bug's wings, every intake of breath from a bird perched high on a branch. Her nose caught the scent of the mouse that was scurrying, the scent of the bug with the flickering wings, the scent of the bird perched high on the branch. Her eyes illuminated the dark forest, it appeared to be lit with stadium lights to her. Thus, the cover of darkness could not be used for potential threats. Her sense of touch let her feel every branch, every leaf, stick, and rock underfoot. If a human were to look at Madison, they would not see a human, they'd see a silhouette. A deadly silhouette. For Madison was padding through the forest as an full grown, adult tigeress. The stripes on her coat broke up her outline, imitating shadows. She moved quietly on four large paws, placing them down carefully so as not to make a sound. Although she was not a fan of violence, she'd have to take out any human who saw her. But that's why she moved at night. The risk of her discovery was less, as no human in their right mind would be out now. Madison paused, hearing a noise that was not an animal. She scolded herself mentally. A tiger, no matter how stealthy, was too conspicuous for a pine forest. And although a tiger was her preferred form, she wanted to blend in, to be inconspicuous. She knew wolves were abundant here in Redwood, so she shifted into that. Immediately, her pace was faster, as wolves had much higher endurance then tigers. A wolf's nose was keener too, so she could smell a human before she encountered one. So she trotted through the forest, stopping only to kill a mouse and consume him for food and energy.

She had joined the Lightworkers when she was 15, just a few weeks before her 16th birthday. She had received the special quartz pendant and wore it all the time, as required. At 16, she was allowed to scout in the forest for Indigo children making their way from town, persacuted because they were different. She was trained as a shapeshifter and an empathetic, so she could be using her powers to their full extent. She always enjoyed her shapeshifting ability more then her empathy, because she hated knowing people were in pain, but she was burdened with knowing. She got over her discrepancy, and started to help people, by absorbing some of their pain. She had made it so that instead of being emotionally or psychologically damaged, she'd recieve physical wounds instead. If a child had been abused and had been thrown down the stairs, she felt that physical pain, added with the child's feeling of hopelessness, abuse, and loneliness. So she had to be in the good graces of the healers, so that they could heal her and she could help more people. She helped as much as she could with the Lightworkers, using her animal forms to aid in whatever was needed. If they needed a way to pull in supplies, she'd become an ox to help. If one child needed to get somewhere quickly, she'd become a horse. If they needed something that was deep in the water, she'd be a dolphin. Anything to help, she would always pull her weight and help were needed. Of course, she would get angry or irritated when the requests for her shapeshifting were for enjoyment. She didn't mind it once in awhile, but if it grew to a good number of times that were frequent, she'd be quite irritated, and had taken to becoming a tiger and growling at anyone bothering her for a request. But those instantce were few and far between. At the moment, she was on a scout in the forest, for food and for wandering children. So far, her keen senses hadn't picked up anything, but she had managed to take down a deer. She ate what she needed, as the mouse had barely filled her, and carried the rest in her strong wolf jaws to the Lightworkers cave.

Just a ghost, to the world.

From up here the city lights burn

Like a thousand miles of fire

Anthem of our Dying Day

Shapeshifting is her primary ability but she also has the power of empathy

She stands at 5'9, has shoulder length hair that is dark brown in color. Her eyes are a stunning brown mixed with emerald green, and she is lithe and lean. She's thin, but not anorexic like. Her features are expressive, but her eyes mostly. Depending on her mood, they vary in shades of brown or green. When she's happy, they are a sparkling brown mixed with green. When sad or upset, they are dark brown. When irritated or angered, they are an intense green that seems to crackle with the intensity of a burning fire. When she is thinking, her eyes are a hazel color.

Madison is very calm, and usually quiet. She's also very intelligent and was a precocious child. She's a deep thinker, spending a lot of time thinking about things before rushing into them. She's an observer, and due to her empathetic tendencies can pick up on the subtleties of body language better then most people. She's a pacifist, she hates fighting and will not do so unless provoked. She adores her gift of shapeshifting, she has always loved animals and continues to. She likes to learn about whatever animal she's using, so she'll shapeshift into a certain form and stay in that form for three days, learning as much as she can about that animal so that she may control it better and use it properly.

Madison was born on July 12th, in the small town of Redwood. She, unlike many indigos, did not show her true powers at birth. There was no way to tell she was empathetic or could shapeshift. As a newborn, she had not seen any animals to mimic and was her brain was not at the power it needed to be to empathize, as she had been alive for only a short time. However, as she grew, her empathetic powers became apparent, but her parents luckily just thought she was very observant and perceptive. She had a knack for making friends easily and helping people. When she was five years old, a bully had been pushing her around. She was angry, but began recieving feelings from him, feelings of loneliness, neglect, and abuse. She felt his pain and absorbed it into her, feeling those things so that she may unburden him slightly. The boy stared at her in awe, now feeling happier then ever. He ran away and never bothered her again. Her shapeshifting prowess came at about age 7. Her parents took her to a zoo and she observed every animal, memorizing their looks, their movements, their attitudes. Her favorite animals were the wolves, all of the big cats, and the birds of prey. When she went home, she sat in her room, thinking about a tiger cub that she had seen. She wished so badly she could be a tiger. The more she thought about it, the more she wanted to be one. Suddenly, the world was different looking. Her field of vision was broader, and she looked at her hand. Her hand was a paw, covered in soft orange fur with black stripes. She ran to her mirror and a tiger cub stared back at her. She was delighted and played in her room as a cub until she heard her parents coming. She figured that if she had wanted to be a tiger and became one, then she could want to be herself and become herself again. Luckily, this worked, and when her mother walked into her room, Madison was on the bed reading, as herself. She was found out one fateful day when she was 15. She had been hiking in the woods near her house when she heard someone crying for help. She shifted into a hawk and flew over the forest, using the keen hearing of the animal to help pinpoint the location of the person. She found it and swooped down, using the hawk's stunning eyesight to find the person. A small boy was being cornered by a cougar. Madison didn't see the boy's father running toward the boy from his spot about 50 feet away. She landed and shifted into a tiger, an obviously un-natural inhabitant of a pine forest in Redwood. She snarled at the cougar, clubbing it in the face with her large tiger paw. The cougar hissed back but when Madison charged at it, it fled. She shifted back quickly, running to the small boy but his father was there. He yelled at her, calling on his cell phone to the police. Terrified, Madison fled as an eagle, fearing for her own life. She shifted into different birds of prey as she searched for a safe haven so they couldn't find her. She survived in the wild as various animals for a year until she found the haven of the Lightworkers.
