Author: Shawna Morgan
Subject: JOINING!

Preface: THERE! FINALLY! Graaaah...took so long to write...I kind of lost heart at the end; I was tired! ^_^ But yep. Hope she's not too one-dimensional (tried not to make her sound too "evil" in sample post). Oh well. Here you go.

OOC Name: Ann

Email: ann_yen@hotmail.com

Character name: Shawna Morgan

Age: 28

Gender: Female

Race: Neutral

Abilities: None

Appearence:
Extremely well-formed and presentable, with dark brown hair (with crimson highlights) slightly flipped at the ends. Frameless glasses go over a pair of deep-set eyes. Possesses a lean build, with hands that can caress as easily as they can strangle. Very attractive, in a cold and fierce way. Usually wears shades of grey and black, and carries her briefcase full of items/documents unknown to anyone but herself.

Personality:

Without empathy, one can never tell what she is truly feeling, and even then it is hard; she is one who pushes her emotions to the back of her mind. She feels they induce too much chaos in her ordered life. However, one should not be under the impression that she is dull and unintelligent; Shawna may not be imaginative, but her charisma and imposing personality enable her to get what she wants.

She has many talents, such as near photographic memory, but no abilities like telepathy. Whatever her strengths may be, she only uses them for two things: her job, and personal gain. Everything she sees – and does – she must have an opinion on. Highly logical, she is inclined to understand concepts of literature, science, math, etc. However, she merely understands, but feels no connection towards them. People like her manipulate others, feign emotions, and care for no one in order to get ahead. She has many dimensions in her personality, making her highly unpredictable in her actions.

Her weaknesses? Fear of personal failure. Shawna’s position on the power scale (in the Government) is extremely high, so there is no telling in how much she knows. She keeps her personal issues well-hidden, lest it open up a weakness inside her for her enemies. Needless to say, all Indigos should be wary of this formidable figure.

History:

Shawna had never fully revealed her past to anyone (nor does she ever plan to). However, despite her attempts to bury it deep inside her head, it still played vividly after all these years. She remembered a smiling little girl, who quickly made bonds with anyone in authority or with power. She remembered all those boys being attracted to her in high school, only to later have their hearts broken, simply because she was bored of them. She remembered being head girl and homecoming queen; she remembered joining any extra-curricular activity that would make her better known. Everyone around her considered her brilliant, precocious, and charming. She was Miss Everything.

But then, she remembered a deeper past; a past involving a proud and civic-minded family, who knew the entire city better than their child. Parents who then gave birth to another girl, fourteen years after Shawna was born.

Alice was her name, and for the first month or so, Shawna had reacted in a completely normal manner; she was happy for her parents and for herself. However, as time progressed, this child began to show strange characteristics: How could she tell Shawna’s emotions so easily? How could Alice, not even half her age, have such control over fire? Her mother was a lawyer, her father the district manager of a chain of restaurants; they were not the type of parents who would be there for dinner every night. Perhaps, this was the reason why only Shawna was suspicious of her (strangely intelligent) sister’s nature.

Alice’s strange behavior later led to much conflict between her and her sister (Shawna did not like her sister’s empathy at all). It reached to such an intense level that, one night, Shawna hastily locked Alice in a closet in the hopes to calm her down from their fight.

It did exactly the opposite.

Shawna realized her mistake a second too late. Panting from the effort of shoving Alice into the closet, she looked down and noticed smoke coming beneath the doors. Her parents scrambled towards the commotion, but got burned themselves. Within minutes, her house was in a blaze. Her parents did not die, but suffered severe burns and had to be put on life support. It would be a miracle if they would ever recover completely. Of course, Alice came out unscathed, as the fire did not affect her. As for Shawna, she had escaped with only a few shallow burns. She was nineteen at the time (Alice being 5), and by then she had ties with the Government. She was also a legal adult, and since her parents were on the brink of their graves, Shawna was given charge of Alice. Thus, she phoned the officials and turned her sister in to the Neutrals.

Shawna watched her sister turn into the Government’s guinea pig with a growing fascination. It was she who gave them permission to remove Alice’s Indigo Receptor from her head, rendering her tranquil and lifeless. It was only a few weeks before she passed away.

Perhaps Shawna joined the Neutrals for research purposes. Perhaps it was to spite her sister and her kind. However, what must be of concern is that she is one of them, and is the cause of many neutralized Indigos.

Sample Post:

Journeys are sometimes so enticing and brimming with wonder. This one was no different. The constant thrum of the coach passed the metal “Welcome to Riverwood” sign, and finally screeched to a halt at the edge of the city. A high-heeled leg emerged from the doorway, followed by its owner, a darkly beautiful woman. On her thin lips played a sardonic grin, and her gloved hand carried a briefcase. Her name was Shawna Morgan, part of Neutrals.

The crisp evening air hung silently as she strode across the near-deserted street. It was quiet enough for her to hear the tapping of her shoes against the worn sidewalk. Strewn haphazardly were bits of garbage and shattered glass. The streetlamps cast a radiating glow around her, illuminating the edges of her crimson hair. After a few moments of searching, she finally found a taxi and climbed on.

The city proved to be less quaint than she thought. As the taxi drove into Main Street, people proved to be very abundant. Though it was still no Las Vegas, it was busy enough to show that the residents were a very active society. She signaled the driver, and he pulled to a halt in front of a hotel. There she would stay until further instruction from her superiors.

Before she pushed the glass doors open, she turned around and stared away into the mass of illuminated buildings. She had been told that it was bordered with forests and mountains, but of course she could not see them in the night. It would only be a few hours before she needed to work, and her mind could not go through all the things that were in store for her. The air was very cool for summertime, and she was still weary from her long bus ride. Thus, she turned from the stream of cars and countless lights, and retreated into the marble-floored hotel.

Anyone who saw her was immediately under the impression that she possessed an aura of grace and charisma, and they were not wrong. What they had no idea of, however, were the thoughts churning in her incessant mind; what could be, would be, should be…they would all be discovered in time, and she was brought here to find out.
