Dear CityU Friends,
While watching grievous scenes of those Tsunami-devastated areas through the TV-screen, we know how lucky we are in HK --- a small but safe place on the same planet....
Sitting on a nice sofa, we got a warm home, we got good education and fair career. That is called Fortune.
Remember, up to now 3/Jan, there are over 140,000 death toll, at least 5 million homeless scrambling for food and clean water....
Through the media, you must know how grim the wrath of this Asia's tsunami have been and how desperate the scenario would turn into once any outbreak of infectious diseases.
The Rescue Workers said:
"The scale of this disaster is growing by the hour. The devastation is unimaginable"
"We are doing very little at the moment," UN emergency relief coordinator. The UN admits only a fraction of aid is getting to where it is needed. Hungry crowds jostling for aid biscuits besieged people delivering them, so some drivers dared not stop. "Cars come by and throw food. The fastest get the food, the strong one wins. The elderly and the injured don't get anything. We feel like dogs," said one resident. (SCMP)
More volunteers, workers and resources are in desperate need!
The injured, sick and hungry survivors need food, medicine, shelters and HOPES

"We are realistic and know we may have to sell what we have and somehow start again,"
"What can we do, we have to work. Have to live again."
"All I want to do right now is to take these pictures of the drowning from my mind and make things better here again."
"There is no social security here, so even as people cremate their loved ones they are having to focus on rebuilding their lives."
