The 2007 Miss Heart of the Bluegrass Pageant, scheduled for the first week of December, has been cancelled due to a lack of community interest and a decrease in the number of applicants. There is no plan to revive the event in the future.
I have so enjoyed meeting the many individuals who have participated in our event for the past twenty years, and I hope that the pageant has made a positive difference in the lives of all who have participated. As we are all aware, the world of pageants has evolved in the past twenty years, and I fear that the Miss Heart of the Bluegrass Pageant, and what it stands for, can no longer compete against the pageants of today. Our event has become a relic in a very fast-paced world, and rather than compromise our principles and integrity, I have elected to cancel the event. It is just not economically sound to run the event as a charitable fundraiser without community backing, sadly.
For the young ladies who have already applied this year, your information will be returned to you in the coming week.
If you have participated in our event in the past, whether as a contestant, judge, spectator, or in any other way, I would love to hear from you either here in reply to this post or by e-mail or telephone. Please visit our website at http://missheartofthebluegrasspageant.ieasysite.com/ to review our history. I plan to leave the site up through December and then it will be dismantled. Thank you for making my life richer, and remember, one person can make a difference...
