She nodded in understanding when he finished, her eyes sparkling with interest. Again, she glanced towards his remarkably unusual claws, her curiosity gradually subduing. One thought stuck stubbornly in her mind, though: He was able to live in water as well as on land. How was it possible? The very concept eluded her grasping mind. "My homeland is not so different from what you see before you," she said in her velvety soft voice. "I simply left because there was dissension among two old dragon families, and it was becoming too dangerous for me to remain there." She concentrated hard on detecting a sign of any roaming herds, but a troubled look shaded her ghost eyes. She gave Kai a sad smile, and she reluctantly said, "I was the cause of that dissension."
