This is astounding!!! Fairfield historically had been covered by a local Bpt radio station, WICC/WNAB. I am not sure I would term it "as getting beat to the punch" as much as continually being asleep at the wheel. There is never any effort or activity to connect with the local basketball community.

Sacred Heart University Assistant Athletic Director for Communications, Gene Gumbs, announced that the Pioneer athletic department has signed an agreement with WICC 600 AM in Bridgeport to broadcast 16 men's basketball games during 2005-06 season.

"From the time I arrived here four years ago it has been my goal to get our basketball games on commercial radio," says Gumbs. "A commercial radio deal is a vital component of any Division I basketball program and an excellent compliment to our internet broadcasts."

The quote is on the mark.

Congratulations to SHU, another major embarassment for Fairfield.

this is pathetic ---
the school station can not be heard more than 4 blocks from campus.

I have often thought that the radio team does a top job, but how many ( can ) listen ?
