Subject: Mo Cheeks talks about Gai
In reply to: JoeStag 's message, "Re: Deng Gai Placed on 76ers Inactive List" on 04:03:09pm 11/16/05 Wed,

From the Philly Inquirer:

The 76ers activated forward Michael Bradley before their game last night against the Toronto Raptors and moved rookie forward Deng Gai to the inactive list.

Bradley, who is 6-foot-9 and played for one season at Villanova, has been sidelined since undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair torn cartilage in his right knee on Oct. 14. Although he has yet to participate in a full-court five-on-five practice, Bradley is "about ready" to play, according to head coach Maurice Cheeks.

The 6-9 Gai, who was signed during the off-season as a free agent, has played just five minutes in two regular-season games, and his statistical line reads zeros all the way across.

Of course, that leads to speculation that the Sixers may decide to send Gai to their Roanoke affiliate in the NBA Developmental League so he can get in some playing time. But Cheeks said that isn't likely to happen for now.

"He's active in practice," Cheeks said. "I think if you do go down to the D-League, it has some benefits. But when you stay at practice, play against the guys who have been around and know our system just in case you happen to get into a game, I think that can be beneficial, also."
