Another notable quote...

McDonald said that Quinnipiac's arrangement with NESN, which guaranteed that several ECACHL games would air on the network each year, helped the school gain league entrance.

If Fairfield is looking to position ourselves for the new Catholic League to be formed after the Big East and A10 implode, our lack of a TV broadcasting arrangement will not help!!!

Stagophile: I think it takes more than just the SID to put together a multi-million dollar deal like this. Your criticism of Jack Jones and his office (one of the best in the MAAC by the way) here is unfounded at best, ill-informed and ignorant at face value, and downright stupid at worst.

The NESN deal is built on one major pillar that Quinnipiac has, continues to overvalue, and view through their rosy colored glasses as their "Flutie Factor" for the future - Division I men's ice hockey.

QU can spend millions on hockey on television in New England, maybe it will gain an exposure or two, pick up a few more applicants and students, but in the end...when it's time to judge the cost-benefits, it will turn out the be a colossal waste.

Yes, it does take someone more sophisticated in business matters to negotiate a broadcasting deal. And Fairfield does not appear to have anyone capable of handling these kinds of matters.

As for my criticism of SID and his inability to establish a network connection from AHY to the Media Center, there is no excuse here. The Media Center is fully capable of handling the production of games right NOW via the Internet!!! You don't need NESN and you don't need CN8. The Media Center has broadcasted several events at Fairfield via streaming video over the Internet including the Fr. Von Arx's Inauguration.

As for Quinnipiac, go read the article again very closely. McDonald indicated that the school is already pleased with the results of TV deal. I don't know how they are measure success nor do you, but, it would appear from the article that Quinnipiac consider it a success.

Finally, why is it that Quinnipiac and almost every MAAC and A10 school has a broadcast deal? Do all of these schools consider these deals a colossal waste? It's amazing that all these schools would spend their all their time and money on something as wasteful as a broadcasting deal. They must all be very ill-informed and ignorant.
