Hopefully next season the women will not be playing anymore single games at AHY.

Most women teams have trouble putting people in the seats.

However, I would make sure we keep playing at AHY.

The women haven't had a winning season since they left Alumni Hall. Moving back to a renovated Alumni Hall would benefit them the most. In addition, they're were more likely 112 people there, not 712.

The move to AHY from AH has not benefited the women at all. They always seemed to play better at AH. Their record reflects that and I assume that the move was always for both teams but it is certainly not working out for the women, especially with their single games this year(712). Even with the double headers the women's game never gets good attendance and it seems that most of the men's fans don't come until just before the start of their game or leave before the women's game. I always thought it was unfortunate because Coach Nolan has given us some exciting players to watch including McMannus, Chartier, Stumpf, Tapley, and Grossarth to name a few. As alumni fans, it is all about the Fairfield Stags. For years, I have taken two little girls, since they were less than 3 years old, to AHY,to many, many games at AH, and to all the Homecomings, to almost all of the Football, even Field Hockey, Soccer, Lax, Volleyball, Softball and Baseball. It was fun for them and fun for me because it was "our" Stags. It is unfortunate that more alumni don't make it to AHY or back to campus.

[> Just try one game back at Alumni Hall!!! -- Stagophile, 09:41:53am 01/10/06 Tue, [1]

Fairfield should move one game back to Alumni Hall this year to see what happens. They can promote the game with some sort nostalgic theme in historic Alumni Hall. :-) Ohio State did this last year with the women's team and it was a huge success. They moved one game from their modern Schottenstein Center to historic St. John's Arena. It was a sellout driven by alumni who wanted to take a trip down memory lane and students who had heard the great stories about how loud and fun St. John's had been in the past. Just one game...let's give it a try!!!

Sounds like a great idea but is it too late to do? Does anyone know if there is any contract that locks Fairfield women into AHY for all regular season games and if so for how long.

It is a shame that the current students don't much about Alumni Hall, a place that Sports Illustrated once called one of the hardest places for a visting team to play. Even though it only seats 2,479, you are only a few feet from the action. The refs hear you, the players hear you and the visiting team can really hear you. Add the Pep Band, Cheerleaders, Dance Squad and back bleachers filled with screaming students and the current students will get to experience something that doesn't exist at AHY. Granted there is no beer, no expensive food stands,(half of which are never open for the women's games anyway),no high ticket prices, or parking garage fees but get your beers after the game at the Levee, have your food at the Campus Center before or after the game, buy your Fairfield fan gear at the Bookstore and have some fun!

My guess is that it sould happen but probably won't.

I thought Mark Reed said last year, that he was trying to get some men's or women's games at Alumni Hall. I am pretty sure that the current contracts calls for all games to be at AHY...... this is the last year of that Contract.

Hopefully the new contract is written to allow for some flexibility in playing on campus. And that the women play most of their games at Alumni Hall.

That would be great to get ALL the women's games next year at AH with some sort of plan and effort to get students, alumni and local fans back on campus again.
