Prediciting a 16 point loss. I think we will have a big game frmo Bell tonight, being close to his family and friends.
If MVS can get in a zone and we play some decent defense (no more uncontested lay-ups) I think we can play them tight. This is the toughest team we play this year, but they will likely underestimate us given our record. We need to come out shooting and agressive - i think we will. If our shots dont fall I can live with that - poor defense and lack of aggressiveness is unacceptable. Todd had some poor shot selection against Providence at the end but I appreciate his aggressiveness.

GAME NOTES: The 14th-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes try to continue their winning ways
tonight, when they host the Fairfield Stags in the opening round of the four-
team Hawkeye Challenge. The survivor of tonight's bout will square off against
either Valparaiso or Tulane in the championship game on Saturday. The Hawkeyes
are off to a great start and come into the game with a solid 5-1 record, which
includes a pair of wins over nationally-ranked foes. One of those victories
came just two days ago in a 45-42 decision over 24th-ranked NC State as part
of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. It was the second win in a row by the Hawkeyes,
who improved to a perfect 4-0 at home. Iowa has dominated this mini-tournament
over the years, winning the event 22 times in its 23-year history. The
school's only loss came in 1985, when it fell to Arkansas State in the opening
round. As for Fairfield, it is still in search of its first win of the season,
going 0-3 thus far. The Stags opened the year with a 69-64 loss to St. Francis
on the road before returning home to drop back-to-back decisions to Saint
Joseph's (72-41) and most recently Providence (81-78). Tonight's game marks
the first-ever meeting between Fairfield and Iowa on the hardwood.

It has been a real struggle for Fairfield in the early part of the 2005-06
season, as the team is averaging just 61.0 ppg behind a poor 38.1 percent
shooting effort from the floor. The team has also had its share of problems on
the boards, where it is being outrebounded by 9.0 rpg. Terrence Todd and
Jonathan Han are currently tied for the team lead in scoring with 12.3 ppg.
Han, however, has been the more well-rounded of the two, as he is also handing
out 4.3 apg and grabbing 3.7 rpg. In the team's last game, Todd and Han
combined for 19 points, but it wasn't enough as Fairfield suffered a three-
point loss to Providence. The Stags shot a dismal 35.4 percent from the field
in the setback, while being outrebounded, 37-31. The team also did a poor job
of getting to the free-throw line, as it went just 1-of-3 from the stripe on
the night.

Iowa is paced by the trio of Adam Haluska, Greg Brunner and Jeff Horner, each
of whom has made a significant contribution to the team's averages of 68.2 ppg
and 40.8 rpg. Haluska leads the team with 15.2 ppg to go along with 5.2 rpg
and 2.2 apg. Brunner is next with 13.0 ppg, but second to none with 7.8 rpg.
As for Horner, he adds 11.2 ppg and has been responsible for getting Haluska
and Brunner the ball with a team-best 6.7 apg. In the squad's previous tilt,
Haluska poured in 18 points and collected six caroms in leading Iowa to a
45-42 win over NC State. Horner added 11 points and six assists for the
Hawkeyes, who won despite shooting a season-low 29.8 percent from the floor.
The team, however, compensated for its poor shooting with tough defense,
forcing 24 turnovers, in addition to holding the Wolfpack to just 34.0 percent
from the field overall.

Iowa is a very talented team with several different scoring options. The
Hawkeyes should have no trouble winning this contest, as they are clearly the
much better team from top to bottom.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Iowa 79, Fairfield 63

If we keep it under 30 I'd be surprised.

Yes. If we keep it under 30, I consider it a moral victory

Yes, we're going to take it on the chin. I'm hoping Oglesby can follow up with two solid games. That would bode very well for the rest of the season. I'm wondering if he'll start.
