Subject: Report from Iowa City

I only got 30 minutes, so here are soe quick thoughts on the game.

- This is a game we could have won.... if we continued teh strategy that worked...... drive and kick it out for the 3-pointer. Too many times we drove to deep and could not convert on Iowa'a "D". Todd and Oglesby in particular were able to get inside, but a pull-up 8-footer or kick out was working fine.

- Role reversal from last year. Iowa intimidated us on those short shot, just like Gai did to our opponenets. We have to do what our oppenents did to us last year, and not trying to test they big man.

- Proud of the team as we battled Iowa the whole game. I heard Iowa fans, Valpo head coach, Valpo assistant compliment our team and TOT. But we got to start turning this stuff into wins

- But all this energy, will go for naught if we don't win tonight. Very critical game versus the 1st team that will will play with a below .500 record.

- MVS, Han, Bell, and Oglesby had it going from teh outside. Glad to see Bell play well in front of his hometown. Good overal ball movement for 75% of the game.... ecept for those drives.

- Defensively, we really battled. Carter plated really tough. Carter is not skilled offensively, but we need him in there for his toughness.

- We looked a half step quicker to the ball than Iowa, which we have to do to win. We won the battle of 50-50 loose balls.

- Han looked like the best guard on the court again. He does so many thinks well.

- 0-4, but I feel really good about this team. And once Max, Mamadou and MOS return..... they should be able to give us inside scoring, and I think this can all gel.do

- Vito isa great Bar Restaurant in Iowa City, some of us frequented it 3 times yesterday for Beers and Food

Quick Stat:

We shot 6 of 39 from inside the arc, and 12 of 29 outside the arc.

This was the second game against a major opponent in which Todd broke the momentum of Fairfield runs by trying to do it all himself inside. Even Huessler questioned why he kept trying to penetrate when it clearly wasn't working. Even if you desperately want to join in on the action, you need to know when to go with the flow. I am not saying it's selfish play but you need good judgement from seniors.

Thanks Joe.

One question though. You say "When MOS returns?" I would think that they should redshirt him if he is going to miss 1/2 the season. What are you hearing?

Exactly my point in an earlier post. No sense bringing him back if he has missed a good portion of the season. Probably would not be much help at that point anyway.
