The computer gods looked down upon me with a frown and struck me with some technical...quite possibly literal...lightning bolts. I was on 'mere occasional peek from another's computer' for a good...er...miserable six months. ;)

It's good to find friendly and much loved faces on favorite old stomping grounds again...and to have the chance to post a word or two to them. *smile*

Though I don't have any of the premium cable channels...therefore, am pretty much left to the dark ages of network television (chokes on the word) I am a TV-on-DVD junkie in training to try to make up for it. Thank goodness for DVD sets and my beloved FX network, because with a few rare exceptions, network television just doesn't do it for me these days.

Bring on the intensity, bring on the drama, bring on the realism, and bring on the grit! All qualities that have made "The Shield" my most favorite passion. I'm -so- in love with that show, how it works in front of the scenes, how it develops and is so unique behind them. So in love with it, even when it violently kills most beloved characters in season finales and then leaves you hanging for a year to see the retribution.

*blink, blink*

Um, no, I don't have any issues. ;)

Anyway, the DVD thing has brought me to see Season One of The Wire, which I enjoyed very much, especially through to, I believe it was, episode nine or so? I was just a little disappointed in the wrap of that season---I think that's the way we were supposed to feel, living through the character's experience of what was unfolding after such a long struggle. It just made me sit back on my haunches a little before diving full on into Season Two, though. I watched the first episode of that next season, but I haven't gone any further. I will because you're right, the acting, the writing, the characterizations, and the intensity are all elements that make it so strong. I just felt like I wanted a little distance before I ran into the new build. What I discovered with the first season was that once I started to watch them, I needed to keep up the flow, one right on top of another, and I think maybe the doldrums of summer television will bring about a good excuse for that kind of frantic paced 'new-to-me' television. ;)

What season is it up to at this point? (And why do the DVD sets have to be so darned expensive? ;))
